I am so excited, I just received my first Stitch Fix in the mail! I have refrained from joining because I know myself and my passion for fashion! But these past few years I haven't bought much for myself in regards to clothes. Having kids back to back I really thought... what was the point because nothing really fit right ever! Sure, I bought some new workout clothes last year, that I literally lived in every day!. So this past summer season I decided that I was going to purge my closet and get rid of anything that I felt was ill fitting, uncomfortable or I just didn't feel good in. It was hard for me to part with things that I saved thinking, "oh I will wear that again later, or I might just need this or that..." Well the fact is I hung on to things out of guilt because of whatever reason. I've learned to let a lot of guilt go in the past year. Part of that process was purging my house and my life of things that didn't add value or added clutter. (totally still a work in progress!) So, I waited a long time to re-add new pieces to my closet, but what I found is this....I just didn't enjoy shopping as much as I used to. I would rather be home with my family enjoying family time versus trying to find the best bargain. That isn't to say I don't or wouldn't like a day of browsing, but that maybe happens once a year now and its usually looking for kids stuff or photo props now LOL!. I had been hearing about Stitch Fix for a while and finally thought why not. But here were my main reasons: Time, Current Trends and Convenience. So I went for it. I filled out my profile and started my Pinterest Board to let my stylist know what things I like. That part was fun, it was like browsing in the store, but from home (with no kids to chase under the clothing racks or my children pointing and yelling embrassing things from the dressing room making me wonder why I took 4 kids shopping in the first place!) I decided to schedule the fixes, instead of having it automated. I wanted to control when fixes would be in my budget and when I was ready for new items. It was seriously like Christmas when the fed ex truck arrived.....I use to hate online shopping and I am getting more and more into all the time it saves running to the store! So here is a look at my first fix..... My shipment arrived on Friday and I had to decide what I was keeping by Sunday. So you have 3 days to decide. I tried everything on and had my husband take pictures (yes he was the photographer first and still does a fabulous job) so I could see what I like best, but new already I was sending one item back based on the color. I loved getting a note from my stylist, Alexandra and all thethe ways I could wear the different tops. It gives you great ideas on what you can pair your new items with! I actually hung this in my closet, because when I am in a hurry to get ready, I usually grab the same things to wear (the things I know are comfortable & go well together.) I think I've decided to start picking out my clothes the night before LOL like I make my girls do, to save me time in the morning when I have to be somewhere! Here is the first outfit that I new I would probably keep and actually ended up wearing to church that Sunday morning and found outfits in the twins closet to compliment mine (I love when that happens and they looked so darn cute I had to get pictures with them too!) They only stay young for such a short time and if they are anything like my older two, when they turn 3 they will be fighting me to dress themselves! Black Skinny Pants & Magenta Dolman Knit Top
concord striped draped pocket cardiganThe next piece I struggled with my decision. It was the most comfortable material and definitely would be awesome to curl up in with a good book. But like I said before I am pretty budget conscious and I knew I didn't need this piece in my wardrobe. I have enough relax wear in my wardrobe that I can wear at home. I need pieces that I could wear everyday that were comfortable and classy. Here are some pictures of that peice! Mani button back mixed media knit topI knew right away when I took this top out that it would be one of my favorites! I LOVE the colors and Navy blue is definitely one of my favorite colors. It was very comfortable and felt like I could wear it very dressy or very casual, exactly what I was looking for! Colibri solid tab sleeve blouseThis blouse I definitely liked the style, but the color was just not for me, nor did I feel like it would compliment what I already had in my closet. Trying to be smart about my purchases, I knew I couldn't keep everything and I told myself whenI signed up that I would have to be very decisive in my choices and only keep what I knew I would wear most! Here is that top: my picks...So all in all I loved the experience, it was fun! I decided to keep the whole first outfit and then the navy blue top! I sent back the cardigan and the green blouse. I also earned $75 credit towards my purchase for referring some friends, so that was fun and paid for some of my items! I would say all in all I would do it again, maybe every season or 4x times a year...it really all depends on my budget and what my needs are for clothes versus my families needs. But it was fun to get a few new pieces to add to my wardrobe that weren't work out clothes! The process was really simple! The things I chose not to keep, I put in this shipment bag that was included in the initial purchase and popped it in my mailbox on Monday and I was done! No running from store to store or running back to town to return things! Really what I feel like I got was some cute clothes and my time that I would've spent shopping. get your stitch fix today by clicking here: https://www.stitchfix.com/referral/5926977 and then refer your friends to earn your own stitch fix credits!
